We have a large vat, and it will hold two milkings, so we collect the milk from the night before and store it in a chilled tank. In the morning the fresh warm milk is added directly on top of that and we pump it the 30 metres to the dairy as they are milking. We have a slow gentle pump that doesn’t damage the milk when pumping, so it takes about an hour to fill our vat with about 2600 litres..."
